Diet as leverage point towards a healthy and sustainable food system

The Joint Programming Initiative a Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life (JPI HDHL) welcomed about 240 people to its 5th international conference on the 20th of February 2019 in Bozar, Brussels.

Our TRUE project introduced at the JPI HDHL on the 20th of February 2019 in Brussels. The participants represented a wide variety of stakeholders in the area of food, nutrition and health and came together to discuss the state of the art in the field of JPI HDHL and look towards the future.

The keynote by Line Gordon explained the results of the EAT Lancet report and the sustainability and health challenges of the current food system, while the afternoon keynote by Helen Roche presented the new JPI HDHL Strategic Research Agenda.

The TRUE project has been presented by Marta Vasconcelos (UCP, Portugal) and Bálint Balázs (ESSRG, Hungary) in an inspiration session called ‘Innovative legume products for healthy and sustainable diets’. The audience also got to taste various legume products, like the lupin bean, common in Portugal and Spain, and a cake snack for children with legumes.

More information about all the keynote speeches and sessions is available in the conference report.
